Woods defenders are strapped into trees and locked into the ground,
to prevent Cornell from converting an historic woodlot into a 176-car
parking lot. They need Ithacans there NOW to witness police action.

Making fun of them for their fallacies and foolishness, trying to protect a small group of trees for example, is much more fun. And autovatic makes a good point: there are some vastly more important issues out there that are much more worth getting upset over.

In other words, "Let me guess- you're a townie. You moved up here just so you could be that much closer to moosewood restaurant and grassroots festival and be able to protest cornell every other day of the week, didn't you?"

I wouldn't insult townies for being townies, because it would be eminent hypocrisy.
I insult stupid townies for being stupid, and I leave intelligent townies to their own actions.
I have the feeling that somebody's going to see that last statement and go, "you shouldn't insult; you should rationally discuss!" And I see their point, kind of. It's just that they're wrong. If someone's being stupid, the first part of converting them is to make them realize that they're being stupid. Trying to rationally debate with someone whose entire metaphysic differs from yours is near-impossible. Offering a down-to-earth smack upside the head straight from reality is a preferable alternative.

There are definitely better things to protest than a patch of trees. I take it we've moved on from the "wars" overseas, the environment, and using alternative energy. I would like to form a group that is for the parking lot, since it would allow Cornell to expand and help keep the in-town staff coming to work. It might be good excercise for people to walk down from A Lot of B Lot, but some townies aren't young anymore... like the old ladies that work at the dining halls. What about them? What about their rights? I'm sure if they could go out and cheer on the construction workers, they would!
This is seriously getting out of hand... Cornell is building the lot, and that's that.
